Barterworks
Barterworks - a network bartering system researched, designed, and implemented by two UW students in 1997, currently operating out of the Working Centre in downtown Kitchener.
Recycle Cycles
Recycle Cycles - is a bicycle resource centre which provides inexpensive, reconditioned bicycles for children and adults (from volunteer efforts) and facilities for individuals to repair their own bikes. This effort began in 1993 by a group of dedicated volunteers through WPIRG, and sustained by WPIRG for seven years (1993-2000) when the project was handed over to the Working Centre,43 Queen St. W., Kitchener.

One Tonne Challenge
As part of Waterloo Region's One-Tonne Challenge program, WPIRG developed ireduce.ca, a one-stop shop for information about how local citizens could reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
International El Salvador Project
The purpose of this project was to develop a network of people and services in Canada that would support the people of New San Salvador (a region of 32 cities), El Salvador. We sent one intern in the Fall of 2004 who served in a six month capacity on development work.
Citizens' Commitment to Cleaner Air
2004: Citizens' Commitment to Cleaner Air Project a two year project that began in 2002 with our community partner, the Citizens' Advisory Committee on Air Quality-Waterloo Region. The project has five components: Idling Reduction Education, Traffic Reduction Education Campaign, Commuter Challenge, Corporate Fleet Challenge, and an air-quality educational CD-ROM. WPIRG successfully applied for a $108,000 grant by the Ontario Trillium Foundation for this project.

2004: "Hand in Hand", a seminar on HIV AIDS occuring March 13, 2004.
Iced in Black
2003: Iced in Black : Canadian Black Experiences on Film. Three consecutive years of this film festival were held in February 2001, 2002, & 2003.
Friends of Ugunja
2003: Friends of the Kenyan Ugunja Community Resource Centre Project.
Trip Reduction Initiative
2002: Trip Reduction Initiative : Working with employers and employees to reduce single occupancy vehicle trips in Waterloo Region and Wellington County. This project began in early 2001.
