Fall '08

In addition to our regular round up of events, WPIRG is celebrating our 35th Anniversary this year. Watch out for special anniversary programming, an historical overview of WPIRG and a publication detailing our 35 years of activism.

Our volunteer meeting has been set for 5:30pm, Thursday, September 11th in the Lower Atrium of the University of Waterloo's Student Life Centre. This is a great way to get involved in an action group or project or just to find out what's going on at WPIRG.

In other WPIRG news, we're getting ready for our 6th Annual Car Free Day Festival. Check out the Car Free Day page for specific event information.

We're also participating in Trash2Treasure, a new furniture and appliance recycling initiative just being launched this year. You can check out their website here: www.trash2treasure.ca

As usual, we have a round of speakers and events on social justice and environmental issues. Some highlights from those confirmed so far are Tony Weis, an author on the political economy of food systems, Gavin Fridell who gives new insight into fair trade and Marianne Park, a disability advocate who is currently serving as a board member for the DisAbled Women's Network.

It's bound to be another exciting term so be sure to stay tuned and find out what else is up at WPIRG!
